NIPUN Lakshya focuses on ensuring that every child acquires the essential Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) skills during the foundational stage of education. The initiative promotes joyful, activity-based, competency-oriented and child-centred learning so that children develop a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
At PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 Bolangir, NIPUN Lakshya is implemented through engaging classroom activities, experiential learning, age-appropriate Teaching-Learning Materials (TLM), regular assessment and targeted support for children requiring additional assistance.
Key Targets of NIPUN Lakshya
The major targets are to ensure that children:
- Develop foundational literacy skills and are able to read age-appropriate text with understanding.
- Develop the ability to write clearly and express their thoughts through simple sentences.
- Strengthen listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
- Develop number sense and foundational numeracy skills.

Learning Approach
NIPUN Lakshya emphasises play-based, activity-based and experiential learning. Teachers use stories, rhymes, games, conversations, worksheets, manipulatives, Teaching-Learning Materials and hands-on activities to make learning meaningful and enjoyable.
Regular assessment helps teachers monitor each child’s progress, identify areas requiring improvement and provide appropriate support. The active involvement of parents also plays an important role in reinforcing foundational learning at home.
