Genesis
PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 Bolangir, Ordnance Factory Badmal, has a rich legacy of providing quality education and nurturing young minds. The Vidyalaya was established in 1988 under the aegis of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) to cater primarily to the educational needs of the children of employees of Ordnance Factory Badmal and other transferable Central Government employees.
From its humble beginnings, the Vidyalaya has steadily evolved into a Senior Secondary Co-educational Vidyalaya, imparting education from Class I to Class XII. Over the years, it has grown not only in terms of infrastructure and enrolment but also in academic excellence, co-curricular activities, sports, creativity, innovation and holistic development of students.
Situated in the serene surroundings of Ordnance Factory Badmal, Bolangir, Odisha, the Vidyalaya has played an important role in promoting the values of discipline, integrity, scientific temper, national integration and responsible citizenship. Its dedicated teachers, supportive parents and enthusiastic students have collectively contributed to its continued growth and achievements.
The Vidyalaya has embraced the changing educational landscape while remaining firmly rooted in the core values and vision of KVS. With a focus on competency-based learning, experiential education, technology-enabled teaching and the holistic development of every child, it continues to strive for excellence.
In keeping with the vision of the National Education Policy 2020, the Vidyalaya has further strengthened its commitment to nurturing creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and 21st-century skills among learners.
The Vidyalaya has now been selected under the PM SHRI (PM Schools for Rising India) Scheme, marking another significant milestone in its journey. As a PM SHRI Vidyalaya, it is committed to becoming a model school that showcases the implementation of NEP 2020 and provides an inclusive, joyful, child-centred and future-ready learning environment.
From its foundation in 1988 to its present identity as PM SHRI Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 1 Bolangir, the Vidyalaya continues its journey with the guiding spirit of excellence, innovation and service to the nation.
